This was from Lisa Kaus' class.  Loved this!  It was also the last day - what a way to end Art & Soul!

More Clay Fun!

I've been busy doing more clay - both air dry and paper clay.  Not sure which one is my favorite.  Each one one has it's pluses.  Paper clay has a much softer (marshmallow?) look to it, air dry looks more like kilned clay, although not as strong or durable.  Both are so much fun to play with!

Brave People Make Things so get excited and make things….The first five (5) people to respond to this post will get something made by me.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations so please read carefully:

1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make. Whatcha get is whatcha get.
2. What I create will be just for you, with love.
3. It’ll be done this year (2009).
4. I will not give you any clue what it’s going to be. It will be something made in the real world and not something cyber. It may be weird or beautiful. Or it may be monstrous and annoying. Heck, I might bake something for you and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that’s for sure!
5. I reserve the right to do something strange.
6. In return, all you need to do is post this text on your blog and make 5 things for the first 5 to respond to your blog post.
7. Send your mailing address - after I contact you.

IMPORTANT: This offer is null and void if I do not see you post your own blog to pay this forward.

This text was used from marianne's art blog.

Bird Brain Lopez

This is for my 5th grade teacher who we called bird-brain lopez because she was so into nature. At the time we thought it was crazy. You can now call me bird brain lopez - love my birds (and all things nature)!

Bird on wheels

My latest clay project. I tried to make the bird look as though it had been hanging around for a while, used "stiffie" for the nest paper and of coarse used distress crackle paint (just love that stuff).

Another online class

Taking another online class with evbstudiohome and I having been playing with both paper clay and air dry clay. The photos below are from the 1st Saturday class. Each month there is a new challange. This month is April Fools. This was my first try with air dry clay. I have played with paper and polymer, but this is a little more challenging. Can't wait till he dries and I can paint him. By the way, I have named him dunce.

And here he his painted. Unfortunately broke the cap and had a hard time glueing it back on. Oh well, love him anyway.

Transfers (sort of)

I've been playing with transfers and some worked out, some not so much. This one was a photo of my aunt circa 1920s. She won the beauty contest. As you can see, this is not so much. So I ended painting over the image. This one is called Sara.

This one worked out much better, although I did have to add some paint in areas. This one is called Polly.

This one I had high hopes for... even tried the transfer twice. But not gonna happen. So I just bought a new die, cut grunge board, painted, added clear marbles. Some of the flowers are raised (used poker chips).

Online class with Moss Hill Studio

I signed up for an online class with Moss Hill Studio. JoAnnA Pierotti is the artist behind Moss Hill. Have you seen her art? She is fabulous. Anywho, these are actually nothing like what JoAnnA did for the class, but I did use her elements in mine. The first one is called Sisters, and the tag line is "Because of a sewing accident, she was upset that she no longer looked like her sister".

This is called Flower Girl. I haven't added any found objects yet... Not sure whether I am done or not. What do you think?

The best thing is about taking this class is I have been very busy painting and creating. I'm going to Art & Soul the end of April and have signed for a fatbook - need to do 45 pages, then need to come up with something for trades. Will definately be a very busy couple of months.

On-line fun!

I've been taking an on-line class with Cindy Powell at AnArtistsWorkshopRetreat. It's learning how to use Photoshop Elements. This was a photo I took a while ago - just so-so.
Then I put it through it's paces and shazam! So, I couldn't leave well enough alone....

I printed it out on transparency, used alcohol inks, mounted on a wallpaper backing, used copper tape, used more alcohol inks, added iridescent pearl, silver and copper. It looks so much better in person.

If you're interested, I have listed it on etsy.

Frozen Ice Boating?

Very surprised to see folks ice skating and ice boating on the river Sunday. Why you say? Because the river wasn't all frozen and the temperature was about 50. The first shot is at about 2pm. Can you see where the ice ends? The next one was about 4.30pm. Look at the melt on the ice. There is no way I would've been out there!

Been Listing on Etsy

You have no idea how much stuff to sell that I've been making. When I get home after work, I sit at my desk and watch TV, surf the net and make jewelry. The hardest part is getting them listed. I also have loads of photos, ledgers, old correspondence, game pieces, etc. They are all like my children - hard to let go. I guess its my new years resolution to start listing and to start blogging again.

Wow - has it been that long?

I've had major issues with my computer - I really hate when that happens! I've been busy with my new favorite - making jewelery. I just put a new necklace on etsy... please take a look. Here is a photo.
I've been doing alot with beads and my soldered pieces. I just can't sit still - always have to be doing something. And not being able to play backgammon on-line has been killing me. Stayed tuned - I will upload more soon.
