Busy Busy

Rainy Saturday. Ran errands, took a nap and completed a couple of swaps and a new design for a birthday card. The card may become a journal - not sure. I was blog hopping a couple of days ago and saw where an artist had done a christmas greeting and I loved it. This is my interpretation - it may be just a little toooooo busy. Its hard to stop!

This is actually a little bigger than an atc (measure twice cut once) and I couldn't figure out how to cut it down so I'm sending as is. I hope the recipient is okay with a little off. Both of these were for a collage challenge - swap-bot.

New Journals

I was going to add a photo of a dad and his son, but I like it just the way it is. What do you think? This journal looks soooooo much better in person...

Round Robin Journal

Here is the page (all fabric!) that I did for Santa in the Inthishouseandgarden swap. Haven't sewed in a while, but it came out pretty much the way I wanted it too. Her theme is women create... hope she likes the page. Theres a mix of polymer clay (the sun and butterfly), and lots of other goodies! She plans on making a wall quilt when she gets it back.

new blocks!

The local art group I belong to is having our Christmas party on Friday night. There is usually 20ish attending. Everyone makes that same number of gifts and then each of us gets lots! The challenge is to come up with that many, inexpensive and quick. I go to yard sales and always look for the stuff that one day I can alter. These kid's alphabet blocks were such a deal - $2 for all 26 (2 couldn't fit on the scanner). So I gessoed, painted and collaged each one. The ones in the pix are my favorite of the 5 sides. I hope each enjoys their new old blocks!

BIRD Journal

I took a class with LK Ludwig this year and this is what we worked on. Mounted it on chipboard, handcolored the bird and added the checks, word and all the rest. Pretty fun and pretty too!

This is the back cover.

Pause Journal - back cover

Pause

I put together this new journal - 4"x9" and this is the cover. Not too happy with the writing although I like everything else. May paint over and redo. The background is textured and I think that may have been part of the problem. What do you think?

Mini Banner swap

Here's my 7 mini banners (3"x5") for inthishouseandgarden.
Two of the three were coated with texture crackle
and the other distress crackle. These two are coated with rock candy stickles.
and these two are crumbled tissue paper.
The snowmen and the banner are made from watercolor paper.
This was a fun swap!

Anachronism Mail Art Envelope Swap

From wikipedia: An anachronism—from the Greek ανά (ana: against, anti-) and χρόνος (chronos: time)—is an error in chronology, especially a chronological misplacing of persons, events, objects, or customs in regard to each other. The item is often an object, but may be a verbal expression, a technology, a philosophical idea, a musical style, a material, a custom, or anything else so closely associated with a particular period in time that it would be incorrect to place it outside its proper domain.

Candy

This is the spread I have been working on with Nancy Baumiller. I added the saying "she no longer misses u like candy", the red ribbon, the lovely girl with the fabulous outfit and pink hair, and the bird in the circle from the original post. How do you think I did?

New spread in Journal

Unfortunately, the spread is so big I couldn't get it in one shot in my scanner. The first is with flap, 2nd is without flap and the bottom is the right side. I still have to add the center - something... stay tuned.

Back cover for my journal

Teesha Moore wannabe

Saw a link for Teesha Moore's website to make a journal, and I had to go look. She takes a sheet of watercolor paper 22x30 and turns it into a fabulous little journal. Michael sells a very nice paper - I think it was $3.50 - so here is my result. This is the cover. She also has videos on how to do her style of journal, painting, borders, etc. I used a sharpie (which I don't normally do) and I'm not crazy about the thickness. Will go back to my gel pen. Live and learn - right?

I made these for a swap on Swap-bot. I really like the way these turned out. Hopefully my partners will!
