Ahhhh, Art & Soul has come to an end and I must say every day I had a class that I thoroughly enjoyed, and today was no exception! Julie Haymaker Thompson was an artist I have been aware of for more than a year (I think) and was so jealous when A&S Las Vegas had her on the class roster. Then one day I took a look at the classes and found her on the list! How could I not? SOOOOO very happy I did. Fortunately for us (not so much for Glenny) there were 4 students and we had 1 on 1 attention. How nice! Julie had the kits already made up, so when I'm going through all the ribbons and the base for the doll I'm thinking french for sure. So that is the direction I took her. The first picture is mine and the second is of the 3 of ours (1 lady had to leave early due to a family emergency) and Julie's original. The interesting part is we all started with the same materials but look how different we all did!
My friend Nancy Baumiller is unveiling her new line of digital goodiness at Deviant Scrap today! She also asked me to part of her creative team and this is from her Borders and Bits kit (except for the parrot). She has fabulous kits (and some freebies too!) so please stop by and see what she has in store for us!
As soon as I get home from Art & Soul, I'm gonna be playing!!!

These are from a class with Gail Rossokov and I am smitten! We started out with magazine pages, cut and layered; edged with glue; used never dull and oil pastels; added tissue paper on 2 and sprayed with clear gloss. This are sooooooo much better in person - the intensity and the dimension are amazing. Everyone in class made fabulous art!!!!

Today was play with Carla Sonheim day. It was a fabulous class - she showed us how to look at things like scribbles, blots and clouds...
These are the paintings - 2 are drawn and 2 are found. Can you tell which one is which? 1st and 3rd are found - design was in the background and I just had to emphasize them. They are my favorites.
This time I took the photos in class instead of fighting in the room with the light (or lack there of).

it's so funny... I love to make journals but I don't keep one... yet.
This is a book that I got for free... not so good unless you cover it.
had an old map and I thought that would be cool.
thanks to t!m for the lovely corners and label holder.
inside are 16 pages - 2 signatures of 8 - of mixed media paper -
a good weight for paints, inks and so on.
I love the graphic look of it.

Remember the swap I was in for Remains of the Day pages? Well I got the package from Susie yesterday and WOWZA! They are amazing! 10 Fabulous pages and some extras from Susie to boot! I had this idea to bind them immediately! So I went out to my stash of old books to find the right size and here it is. I removed the papers carefully from the book without cutting the spine. I cleaned it up a bit and divided up my signatures. I cut some gasket material to fit the channel, used my piercing tool to mark the holes and sewed them in. I then took the signatures and used red line tape to put into the channel.
After putting the pages in, I added a decorative tape to
clean the edges on both sides.
Works like a charm!
Thanks to all that participated in the swap! LOVE THEM!!!!

Marsha from Tumble Fish is part of Deviant Scrap, and in the forum there are challenges and all kinds of fun! This is for a "fish" challenge - called "she loved balloons". Most of it is digital (first time in a long time for that) and then hand embellished (couldn't figure out how to add the strings). Borders and background are from Marsha's digital kits she has available in the shop.
